AGT: Matt Mauser’s Emotional Audition a Year After Wife Christina’s Death in Helicopter Crash

Written by on July 7, 2021

You might want to grab the tissues.

Matt Mauser sang his heart out as he fought back tears on America’s Got Talent.

Matt’s wife, 38-year-old Christina Mauser, died on Jan. 26, 2020 in the tragic incident that also killed NBA legend Kobe Bryant, his 13-year-old daughter Gianna Bryant, and 6 others. They were on their way to a youth basketball game at Kobe’s Mamba Academy in Thousand Oaks, California, when the helicopter crashed into a mountain. Matt Mauser shared his story and then sang an emotional rendition of Phil Collins’ “Against All Odds (Take a Look at Me Now)”.

“If I were blessed enough to win the show, 100 percent of my earnings would go to Christina’s foundation,” Matt Mauser tells PEOPLE of the possibility of winning the $1 million prize.”

As I’m writing this, tears are streaming down my face. I can’t even imagine. My heart goes out to Matt and his children. With 4 votes to move through to the next round, Matt’s on his way to a new and exciting journey!
