Check out La Crescent Animal Rescue’s new free outdoor cat program!

Written by on August 7, 2019

La Crescent Animal Rescue has a new program for cats not suitable to adopt to a home setting. These are fully vetted animals that would be perfect for a barn, stable, shed, or commercial building! Applicants can live anywhere but will need to pick up cats and supplies from La Crescent. These cats are completely free but donations are strongly encouraged because they will spay/neuter and vaccinate for rabies, leukemia, and distemper.

To qualify for the Barn Program, you must have a small heated cat shelter or heated building available. You will need to keep the cat in a crate for 3 weeks so it knows where it lives before releasing it. Supplies provided by LCAR: food, litter box, crate, bedding, bowls, etc. Once released on your property, you will need to provide supplemental food and water daily.

Contact La Crescent Animal Rescue to apply for the program. Stop in to 523 S Chestnut Street in La Crescent, call 507-895-2066, or email info@lacrescentanimalrescue.com for more info!

La Crescent Animal Rescue is a no-kill shelter in partnership with the City of La Crescent. They have an open concept facility with an all volunteer staff and are run on donations and fundraisers. Check out their Packers ticket raffle later this month HERE!

Are you able to volunteer?! Right now they need AM & PM cleaning Monday-Sunday, open hours staffing and front desk, and they’re always in need of dog and cat fosters! If you’re able to help out, even just a little, let them know!
