New Glass Animals!

Written by on August 21, 2020

I don’t consider myself a fan of indie music, because I don’t typically waver too far from the mainstream. This summer I’ve broadened my musical scope a bit and checked out some new artists, most recently the Glass Animals. They just dropped their 3rd album, Dreamland, earlier this month. It took me 2 weeks or so to really get into it, but now I can’t stop listening!

Heat Waves was dropped as a single and is probably the most approachable song on the album

I can’t help but think of Maroon 5 and Adam Levine when I listen to the Glass Animals. Lead singer Dave Bayley’s voice and high reaching falsetto reminds me early 2010’s Maroon 5- especially Payphone and One More Night. This album is a lot more electronic and includes a ton of sampling, but I can’t shake the Maroon 5 comparison.

I think there is an alternate universe in which Adam Levine is born in England and starts a psychedelic pop band… this album makes that alternate universe a reality. Check it out! My favorite song is Tangerine, I’d start there. Enjoy 🙂
