LOOK MA, I DONATED MY HAIR!

Written by on December 15, 2020

I realized in September that I hadn’t gotten a hair cut since April of 2019. I know, I’m the worst and should totally get a trim often. I just didn’t. I usually go twice a year, on opening night of our comedy troupe’s performances with Heart of La Crosse. Well, I forgot to make an appointment in September of 2019 and of course, we didn’t perform in 2020 so… here we are. My slacking is some kid’s gain because now I had plenty to donate! I went through some places to donate and landed on Wigs for Kids. They don’t charge the recipient families, which I think is really cool!

So, I called up Erin Gomez at New Beginnings Hair Studio to schedule an appointment. She’s been doing my hair for years and was the one that helped me the last time I donated my hair. I never have any ideas of what I want my hair to look like and she always finds a fab way to style it. I planned to donate the minimum 12″ but when I got in the chair, I asked her what 14″ would look like and decided to just go for it! I wasn’t sure how interested I was to have hair I couldn’t pull into a ponytail but figured now was the time to try and I LOVE how it turned out!

If you’re thinking of donating your hair, it’s pretty easy! It’s something I can grow pretty easily so this is my second time donating. Since Wigs For Kids doesn’t charge the recipient families, they can always use donations so if you don’t have the hair but want to help out, click here to donate!

Here are some other hair donation options to choose from if you’re interested: Hair We Share, Children with Hair Loss, Locks of Love, and Pink Heart Funds.
