CONNECTED IN MOTION – FREE INCLUSIVE DANCE PROGRAM
Written by Ballzer on January 21, 2026
Amanda’s Academy of Dance, La Crosse Dance Centre, and The ARC of La Crosse partnered on a FREE inclusive dance program, called Connected in Motion, designed for dancers of all abilities, ages 16 and up. Dance studio owners Nikki Balsamo and Amanda Verthein collaborated with the ARC in bringing this inclusive programming to the La Crosse area. Nikki, Amanda, and Mary Bakalars, Administrative Director for ARC La Crosse, came in to talk about the program, what to expect, and how to join:
This collaboration combines the strengths of both studios and the ARC’s dedication to supporting people of all abilities, creating a space where dancers can grow, learn, and express themselves in a fun and supportive environment.
This exciting program, Connected in Motion, offers FREE tuition and is designed for dancers of all skill levels and abilities. Students will explore creative movement, ballet barre exercises, stretching, and a variety of dance styles, building essential skills while having fun. Classes are structured to encourage personal growth, teamwork, and confidence, and every dancer is welcome to participate at their own pace.
ARC La Crosse Inc. has maintained a strong commitment to advocacy for individuals with developmental and related disabilities, along with their families, for over 71 years. Their outreach continues to grow through strategic partnerships with local organizations aimed at enhancing awareness and resources for individuals with disabilities.
Recently, ARC secured a grant to introduce dance programs specifically designed for individuals with special needs. These new classes—offered at both Amanda’s Academy of Dance and La Crosse Dance Centre—are the latest example of their dedication to inclusion, empowerment, and meaningful community engagement.
