RECIPE BOOK ENCOURAGES EATING YOUR CHRISTMAS TREE!

Written by on January 6, 2021

Don’t throw out that Christmas Tree just yet! Today is National Take Down the Christmas tree Day but that doesn’t mean it goes out the door immediately. We always save them for burning throughout the year but apparently there’s a recipe book, too! UK artisan and cook, Julia Georgallis, published a compilation of more than 30 recipes using Christmas trees, encouraging sustainability. The cookbook has recipes for pickles, ice cream, fish and more!

The Amazon listing states: “As well as recipes for cooking with pine, fir and spruce this book also encourages reflection around food waste and resourcefulness in an age of deforestation.”

Don’t have a Christmas Tree? I can tell you from experience, there’s plenty just sitting on the curb right now waiting for you to grab for free. You might even snag a bonus ornament or two!

You can read a great interview with Julia from in Smithsonian Magazine HERE.
