HYBRID DATING PREDICTED TO BE THE NEW NORM

Written by on August 31, 2021

Apparently, the new norm post-pandemic, whenever that is, will be “hybrid dating.” A lot more people have been doing virtual dates over video chat in the past 18 months and that may be here to stay. Especially the first few dates, when you’re still getting to know a person.

According to a survey done by the dating app, Hinge, at the beginning of the pandemic, almost none of their users had been on a virtual date. Now, close to half of them (44%) have been on a video date, and 65% of those people say they’ll incorporate virtual dating into their routines even when it is safe to meet in person.

It makes sense. It’s cheaper, safer, and more convenient for both parties. Plus, it seems easier to bounce out of a bad first date when you’re in your living room than at a public place.

Bonus: If you have your camera set up right, you only have to fix the front of your hair for the date, and no pressure to wear nice pants and shoes!
