Y&R’S MISHAEL MORGAN- FIRST BLACK WOMAN TO WIN LEAD ACTRESS DAYTIME EMMY AWARD

You know how much I LOVE Young & the Restless. It’s the first thing I watch every day when I get home from work. I’ve been watching since I was a kid, and it’s my guilty pleasure.

Mishael Morgan, who plays Amanda Sinclair, on Young & the Restless, is the first Black actress to win an Emmy for best outstanding lead performance in a daytime drama: actress. I can’t believe it took this long, but it finally happened at the 49th annual Daytime Emmy Awards, on Friday night. What an incredible achievement, and her speech was perfect!

Mishael said, “I was born on a tiny island in the Caribbean, and I’m now standing on an international stage and I am being honored regardless of the color of my skin, regardless of my passport, for being the best at what I do,” she began. “Now there are little girls around the world and no matter what the industry, the vocation … they can strive to be the best.”

Mishael was originally cast as Hilary on Y&R, but her character was killed off on the show. However, they must have realized her talent and invited her back on the show to play Hilary’s twin, Amanda! And even better…Amanda is in a relationship with Devon, who was married to Hilary! Aaah! Good stuff. How can you not love this show?!
