UW-L CELEBRATING 30 YEARS OF 5K TURKEY TROT

The UW-La Crosse Recreational Sports Department will host the 30th annual UWL Turkey Trot 5K Run/Walk Saturday, Nov. 22, the Saturday BEFORE Thanksgiving. One of the region’s most popular Thanksgiving-season traditions, the event welcomes runners, walkers, children and adaptive athletes of all experience levels, drawing more than 1,200 participants annually, including UWL students, alumni, families and community members.
This year’s milestone event will feature the classic 5K run/walk, a Junior Gobbler Gallop (dash or half-mile), a Flash’s Fun Zone Kids activity space, race-day music with Mid-West Family Entertainment, mascot photo opportunities, bucket raffles, refreshments and special 30th-anniversary wooden-engraved medals for the top finishers.
Alex Kubly, Greta Chabot, and Cassidy Kern joined Ballzer to talk about this year’s event. As always, the event raises money for UW-L Rec Sports, supporting student development, conference attendance, student certifications, and more! And the Turkey Trot mascot Flash, couldn’t miss out on the fun either:
5K Race: 9:00 a.m. start
Junior Gobbler Races: 10:15 a.m. start for the dash on Court 4 in the Recreational Eagle Center. ½ mile race to follow on the track in the Recreational Eagle Center.
