IMPORTANCE OF SLEEP AND RECOVERY WITH KIM FROM BURN BOOT CAMP

Written by on February 27, 2026

Burn Boot Camp has locations in Holmen and La Crosse, with the mission to impact lives through transformative fitness and empower communities. Offering 45-minute Camps through highly innovative daily programming, Burn Boot Camp provides exclusive Childwatch services, allowing families to work out together.

Right now, they’re offering a 3 day trial, to be used over 5 days so you have time to rest. Kim Nading, lead trainer at Burn Boot Camp in Holmen, shared how important it is to give your body time to recover, and get enough sleep:

Kim says sleep and recovery are things we don’t really discuss enough as a society. If you’re only getting 5–6 hours of sleep, your body stays in a constant stress state. That raises cortisol, increases cravings, slows recovery, and can make fitness goals harder.

So, what do we do?
Even adding 15 extra minutes of sleep tonight can make a difference. Exercise matters — strength, cardio, conditioning — but recovery is just as important. Think of workouts like planting seeds; sleep and recovery are like the water and sunlight that help them grow.
A few simple things to try:
Go to bed at the same time each night.
Put your phone away 30–60 minutes before bed.
Unplug and unwind — journaling, meditation, or deep breathing can calm your mind.
Get some morning sunlight or take a short walk to reset your energy and mood.

Remember sleep isn’t a luxury — you are worthy of rest.

Burn is truly a place that anyone, with any fitness level, can benefit from. Modifications really personalize the experience for folks who are pregnant, or post-partem and offer accommodations to any injuries or limitations that you may have. Every camp has one-on-one opportunities with the trainers to help you maximize your experience while minimizing strains on your body.
