Life = Unpredictable

They say your life can be turned upside down in a split second.  I get it now…

Saturday, January 21st I was sitting in my recliner when Mr. Awesome asked if I needed anything. I simply replied with, “A cocktail would be wonderful.” And he brought me one! So sweet of him. He asked again, “Are you sure you don’t need anything else?” I said, “I don’t think so honey, but thank you.” He said, “Not even this?” He got down on one knee and pulled out the most beautiful, sparkly, diamond ring. He asked me to be his wife and I have never been more happy. I didn’t think I’d be able to sleep that night and I knew I needed rest because Wedding World was the next day. I was so excited to announce to the crowd that I had just gotten engaged!

Sunday morning we gathered up the models to begin rehearsing for the fashion show. As I was directing the models on stage, I took a step back to move out of the way and I remember realizing there was nothing to step on. That’s the last thing I remember before falling backwards off the stage and landing on my head.  My head took a 10 foot fall before landing on the concrete floor. Because of a miracle, I’m alive to tell this story.  I can’t even begin to summarize everything that has gone into this recovery process and I’m still not 100%, however each day gets a little better and I’m feeling more like myself!  I’m slowly getting back to my life and doing the things that make me happy.

Things I’ve learned.  You can go from the highest and happiest moment in your life to the lowest moment in your life in a split second, and you have zero control over it.  The brain does EVERYTHING for us and we take it for granted!  Vertigo, concussions, and migraines really suck.  I’m so lucky to have a man that loves me and I know he will take care of me and protect me (as he did during this time).  I’m more hyper vigilant and more protective of myself and those I care about.  One very positive thing; Mr. Awesome and I have both decided to make some healthier lifestyle choices.  As my doctor told me, I am lucky to be alive after this accident and I’m not going to waste a single second.  Mr. Awesome and I will be getting married this October and I can’t wait to start our next chapter together.

Have fun, live your life to the fullest, and enjoy every day and every single moment, because you can’t depend on the next one to be there.
