Brighter Tomorrows is a non-profit organization in Monroe County that has been helping victims of domestic violence and sexual assault for 22 years. Jan came in to tell us more and let us know how they can help:

All of their services are free, confidential, voluntary, and accessible. No documentation is necessary, and everyone can receive our services regardless of income. Their Services include:
24-Hour Crisis Line
Help is available 24 hours, 7 days a week.
Information and Referral
They work with many other agencies to meet your needs.
Legal Advocacy
They cannot give legal advice, but we can help you understand your rights. They can help you understand your rights and explain the legal process and help you work with the criminal justice system. They can also go with you to court and help with filing restraining orders.
Medical Advocacy
They can go with you and support you if you have medical needs related to sexual assault or domestic violence.
Personal Advocacy
They help to identify your needs and options and can help you choose the right services for your family. They will work with other agencies to get you the help you need.
Safety Planning
They will help you create a plan to keep you and your family safe. This can include finding emergency or temporary shelter, help with transportation, and more. Reporting to law enforcement, filing for restraining orders, etc., are your decisions. They will not force you to do anything you aren’t comfortable doing.
Supportive Listening/Emotional Support
They are here to listen, provide support, help you understand your options, help set your own goals, and problem solve throughout the entire healing process. They help anyone, whether the abuse happened in the past or has happened recently.
Support Group
They offer a support group for survivors. Their group is open to all survivors regardless of whether you’ve used their services previously.
Community Education
They provide community education in the schools, to the community, and to professionals.
