It’s been a big year for Bad Bunny. Grammy’s, streaming records. You name an accomplishment, Bunny’s achieved it. But last night, he checked off another box: Becoming a WWE Superstar. He not only performed his new song, “Booker T” (who’s a former wrestler and current WWE announcer), Bunny got in on the action. While the Royal Rumble was taking place, The Miz destroyed some DJ equipment, Bunny took exception, climbed to the top rope of the ring and took The Miz out. Could he be making a jump into a new career in the squared circle? Doubtful, but it was still fun to see.

Speaking of musicians that have had big years, BTS are enjoying some well deserved success. Their video for “Dynamite” was viewed over a 100 million times in 24 hours. The outfits that they boys wore in the video were recently auctioned off for just over $100,000 as part of the MusiCares Charity Relief Auction benefiting the non-profit MusiCares. The organization provides “a safety net supporting the health and welfare of the music community” through financial, social, and medical support.

spotify patent monitor users speech listening big brother

So, you’ve already noticed the phenomenon of talking about a product and having that very product pop up in your social media feed. Well Spotify has filed a patent to monitor their users speech. According to Consequence of Sound, “it’s to identify taste attributes from an audio signal”  and finally received approval on January 12th, 2021. The goals is to gauge listener’s “emotional state, gender, age, or accent,” in order to recommend new music. Call me old fashioned, but maybe just let the user pick the music based on how they’re feeling instead of invading their perceived mood.
