Buzzfeed opened a poll and asked people if modern day classic songs will be still be classic in 100 years. You can look at the full list of 40 songs here
But let’s go through the top 5:
5. “All Star”, Smash Mouth – Now, is it an alright pop rock song? Sure. But I think its biggest significance comes from being a meme and it’s connection to the movie, “Shrek”. A little overrated in my opinion but hey, it’s not my list
4. “All I Want for Christmas Is You”, Mariah Carey– Forever a bop. Ten out of ten. No notes. In the context of this list however, maybe should’ve been rated higher
3. “Shake It Off”, Taylor Swift– Have you ever seen what this song does to a dance floor at a wedding? That is a trend that will stand the test of time.
2. “Thong Song”, Sisqo– A world where this banger isn’t considered a classic is certainly not a world I want to live in.
1. “Smooth”, Rob Thomas and Santana– This one is perfection. All other music has this to compare itself with. This song will never not be a classic. It’s the greatest song ever recorded.
