A congratulations are certainly in order for 2021 Miss Winona, Rachel Evangelisto, as she was named the 86th Miss Minnesota! Rachel became the first Native American to hold the title in history on June 17th.

Ms Evangelisto came to Minnesota to study law at the University of Minnesota, Morris and recently was accepted to the Mitchell Hamline School of Law.

Upon receiving the title, she was quoted in the Winona Post:

“To be the first Indigenous Miss Minnesota is the honor of a lifetime,” Evangelisto said. “It’s always been my goal to put community and culture at the heart of everything I do and represent, and I look forward to sharing that throughout my year as Miss Minnesota. I’m proud to be the representation that I needed to see as a little and hope to inspire our children to always reach for their dreams, no matter their background.”
