“Wonka” Experience Goes Viral After Disappointing Kids And Parents In Scotland

Written by on February 28, 2024

This has been the majority of my For You page on Twitter the last two days.

A Willy Wonka experience was advertised in Glasgow, Scotland recently and the ads made it out to be a “magical and immersive” experience. But in reality, it was anything but.

What these parents and kids got for $45 a person, was a tour through a warehouse with decorations that were probably discarded parade float props.

Attendees said that the “experience” was less than ten minutes long and at the end, kids received one (!) jelly been and a small paper cup of lemonade.

Then, as what I can only assume was an effort to freak out groups of disappointed kids, this was part of the tour.

Don’t remember that from the movie.

After getting tons of backlash from angry parents, the organizers shut down the event by writing, “Event Canceled” on cardboard and hung it on the door.

While it’s frustrating to hear that a bunch of kids were duped by this, it’s a little funny. And can we talk about the woman who’s playing the Oompa Loompa? What’s her story?!
