LA CROSSE JUNETEENTH CELEBRATION THIS SATURDAY

The annual Juneteenth celebration is this Saturday, June 20, noon-8 in Riverside Park, a FREE, family-friendly event. Everyone is invited to enjoy food, live entertainment, a fun fair for youth of all ages, history, education, and connection in celebration of Black Americans.

The La Crosse Juneteenth Celebration is sponsored by B.L.A.C.K., Hope Restores, Black Student Leaders, and The Enduring Families Project.

Our friend Mia Davis works with Black Student Leaders and Hope Restores, owns Mia’s Kitchen and is a co-owner of Lipa Yoga Studio. This week, she stopped in to chat about this year’s event with the Morning Buzz:

There will be hundreds of food vouchers free to the community, so come early this Saturday, and booths with local businesses and organizations! This year’s food vendors include: Mia’s Kitchen, Mama K’s Pizza, Black Student Leaders’ Birria Tacos, Press Break, and Naez Entreez!

Saturday’s event will feature a talent show, performances, and a dance party. Enduring Families Project will have an informational tent on the history of African-Americans and other non-white settlers, host a stage presentation and do a historical bus tour through downtown La Crosse!
