APPLEFEST IS BACK IN LA CRESCENT THIS WEEKEND!

Written by on September 15, 2021

Applefest is ready for another year! The fest officially kicks off Thursday at 4pm in La Crescent.

Applefest board member Mandi Lenser told Classic Hits 94.7 they’re excited the fest is going to be going on as normal. The only event that they did have to change was to cancel the Senior Citizen Luncheon, because they are more vulnerable population.

The Tapping of the Red Apple Keg takes place on Friday at 7 pm and there will be live music in the King Apple Tent Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

“We do have more kid friendly events down at the fairgrounds on Saturday we’re going to have face painting and blue animals and glitter tattoos,” Lenser added. Saturday is the Kiddie parade as well, at 11 am.

Saturday is also the Applefest Run to the Edge Scenic 5K, Chalk Fest at the high school from 7-4 next to the Flea Market and Arts and Crafts Fair.

The La Crescent Historical Society has self guided tours on Saturday from 10-4 and the Coronation is Saturday night at 7 at the high school.

Sunday is the King Apple Parade. Lenser said the parade will follow the normal route as usual, “and I know that that’s something that everyone is looking forward to.”

Lenser added her favorite thing about Applefest would be the parade but the entire fest is “almost like a reunion of sorts. Everyone comes back into town and gets to see each other.”

Buttons can be purchased at local La Crescent establishments for $7 before four o’clock on Thursday, then they will go up to $10. Wristbands for the carnival are $18 until four o’clock on Thursday, $20 at the fest.
