128 Fake ID’s Confiscated At Popular Madison Bar

It’s certainly a busy time of year as students return to the University of Wisconsin campus. Madison police were just as busy as they seized over 100 fake id’s in one night at a popular bar in Madison
A sting took place at the Church Key last Friday where 128 fake cards were confiscated. The establishment was up for a random compliance check.
According to WKOW:
Officer Rick Bruess of the Central District Community Policing Team said bar employees cooperated with officers and closed the bar to allow officers to speak with seemingly underage patrons. Bruess said fake IDs are becoming more sophisticated and are overwhelmingly bought online. Bruess showed several seized fake IDs to point out small discrepancies in color shade, card borders and bar codes.
The focus of this specific Policing Team is to help bars avoid problems from serving underage patrons and to lessen the chances of other alcohol-fueled incidents.
There was no word on possible consequences for the Church Key bar.
