Canadian TV Reporter Shuts Down Internet Troll With An Epic Clapback

All I can say is, “Bravo”

It’s become an all too common practice of folks being compelled to share their opinion on TV personalities’ appearances and clothing. Which, frankly, I don’t understand. What do you get out of taking the time to send a message to a stranger about what they’re wearing?

On November 27th, Leslie Horton, a traffic reporter with Global News Morning Calgary, paused her report to respond to a viewer e-mail she had received.

According to People.com:

“I’m just going to respond to an email that I just got saying, ‘Congratulations on your pregnancy,” Horton began, while standing in front of the news station’s green screen.

The email continued, “If you’re gonna wear old bus driver pants then you have to expect emails like this,’” Horton, who has a teenage daughter, said.

“So thanks for that,” she replied dryly. “Um, no, I’m not pregnant. I actually lost my uterus to cancer last year. And um, this is what women of my age look like.”

About a year ago, she posted on Twitter that she would be stepping away from the camera while she battled cancer and returned to her post last April.

Will it stop this troll from sending e-mails before thinking? Probably not. But a step toward putting this person in their place, after saying something wholly unnecessary, is a win in my book.
