MINNESOTA HIGHWAY COULD BE RENAMED TO HONOR PRINCE

Written by on March 13, 2023

A bill to rename a portion of Highway 5 in Chanhassen, Minnesota in honor of Prince has passed in the transportation committee. Prince lived in the suburb until his passing in 2016.

One interesting part of the bill was that highway signs must also be purple, Prince’s favorite color.

According to Bring Me The News:

“Prince brought people together not only through his music, but through his advocacy of public library access, education, civil rights, and more,” Rep. Lucy Rehm (DFL-Chanhassen) said in a news release.“It’s a tremendous privilege to work with Minnesotans and all the advocates to recognize and honor Prince’s contributions to our state, our country, and the world.”

The bill must pass another round of committee votes and then will go onto the House floor.
